Artist’s Way

The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. I have had this book for a while. I started it for all of two weeks and then I got lazy/life happened. But I recommit to this for at least the next 12 weeks. Working on my morning pages every morning and doing each weeks activities and artist’s dates.

So there, I have put it out into the world. I will see what my progress is, it will be quite interesting documenting this from the start.

This week is the Introduction and Recovering a sense of safety. I will do my check ins on here so that will keep me accountable!!

Who I am

Today, nearing the end of 2009, I am a mother. About to turn 32. In a loving supportive relationship. Doing this thing we do. I have recently become unemployed )how I detest that word), and in a quest to find some peace and bring some joy to my life I am here.

I have recently rediscovered how much I love art. LOVE IT. It brings me such a sense of peace. And so I have been exploring that. Though I feel a little foolish because I have not taken art since I was 14. But I have bitten the bullet. Taken a couple of online classes and here I am.

So creating at the moment is a big part of my joy. I just bought some Golden fluid acrylics, and I am looking forward to busting those open. I keep thinking when I get time. But hey….I am unemployed…tomorrow I will open them.

I live in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. In our own home that we own with the bank. And this is my story. This is the start of my journey, to see where I came from and where I will end up.

That is exciting to me. And authentic.

The beginning

Well, when I first had my dream of this domain name and this site, I didn’t yet know what I had to offer. And then followed some sporadic posts, many of which were not authentic to me, truthful yes, but not authentic to where and who I am.

So move forward to now. I am not trying to be anything or trying to do anything, over and above trying to record my journey for myself. So for now this is what this space is about. Honoring where I am, and where I stand.

Finding joy is sometimes a hard journey, between feelings of immense selfishness, and not knowing ourselves, we need first to realise what joy is to each of us. This is about what joy is to me. What works and what doesn’t.

And the future of what this may become is not my concern now, what will be, will be. But often we teach what we most need to learn and right now I need to learn to breathe and to keep going on this journey of self discovery.

It is said that it is a fools errand to keep doping the same stuff and expecting a different result. So this is me, not doing the same stuff, and expecting a completely different result!!
